OCC: A BRIEF HISTORY
Oakland County voted overwhelmingly to establish funding for the Oakland Community College District on June 8, 1964.
OCC opened in September 1965 on two campuses: Highland Lakes (Waterford) and Auburn Hills. The Orchard Ridge Campus, with its award-winning architectural design, opened in Farmington Hills in September 1967, and was followed by a renovation of the Southfield Campus in 1980 and the building of a campus complex in Royal Oak in 1982.
Across its five campuses, OCC has educated more than one million students since opening its doors.
